This site is dedicated to the memory of Jim Glendinning.

Jim had worked hard all his life and was in his late fifties when he started to cough a lot and put it down to having a cold, then he started to get breathless, he went to the doctor's thinking he would give him something but the doctor sent him for tests. He was eventually diagnosed with Emphysema/COPD and had to give up work. Over the next few years he was in and out of hospital and was using a nebuliser four or five time a day, then he was having to use an oxygen machine to help him breathe. Then in February 1999 he ended back in hospital again with another chest infection which we thought once this cleared up he would come back home again but after a month in hospital his heart suddenly stopped, it was started again and he was transferred to another hospital where he seemed to have some good days and some bad days. After another month the doctor told us that he could either go home or back to the local hospital and all they could say was that it may be long term or short term, he did not want to go back to hospital so he came home. He died peacefully five days later. We want to raise as much money as we can to fund research into Emphysema/COPD which hopefully will help other people suffering from this awful condition and to help find a cure.
